Salmon Fishing River Tay FULL

Fancy casting a line for salmon on the River Tay in 2017?

Ladies Fishing will be hosting a 3 day salmon trip with accommodation from the 1st to the 3rd June. During the three days you will cast for salmon on Newtyle beat, where your fly or spinner will cover two miles of prime double bank salmon fishing.

dsc_0561Good numbers of spring fish were evident throughout the system during 2016 with numbers through the various counters well above average. There was a 7% increase in the five year spring average and for the first time in many a year, spring performed better than Autumn. This strong run continued until the end of July. Not only were the numbers above average, the river is also observing a gradual increase in the size of salmon.

“Anglers caught 581 salmon in May and 457 in June”

The beat is perfect for the novice and more experienced angler. Newtyle’s head ghillie, Andy Gunn, will be on hand to help improve casting techniques and guide you across the beats 16 named pools.

“Many ladies come to our events on their own and leave with a new circle of fishing friends.”

You will be staying at the Royal Dunkeld Hotel in the picturesque town of Dunkeld which is only a 5 minute drive from the Newtyle beat. The accommodation has been booked for single occupancy and includes breakfast, lunch by the river and dinner.
