Leighton Reservoir Ladies Day

Surrounded by charming, scenic moorland dales lies Leighton Reservoir, the venue Karen and I choose to introduce her friends from Leeds to trout fishing. It is also a few miles from Swinton Bivouac, the perfect end to a mornings introduction to fishing with afternoon tea.

DSC_0132The day started with an introduction to equipment, “how to session” and fishing rods. Cliff continued the session with casting by the waters edge. Then it was on to the water with hopes high as fish were swimming close in and supping the occasional fly off the surface.

Brian and Sue Towers joined us later in the morning. AAPGAI casting instructor Brian spent time with every lady improving their casting technique – thank you Brian.

The four hour introduction session was soon over, with every lady saying they would like to go fishing again. Then it was off for afternoon tea at Swinton Bivouac which was a superb end to a lovely day – thank you Karen for organising this.13221064_10209824392872952_8079357828394221183_n

Fantastic day at Leighton Reservoir North Yorkshire. A Ladies introduction day for my lovely Leeds ladies taught by Anne Woodcock and the fabulous Cliff Johnston. A great day was had by all despite the lack of fish……. Oh and that afternoon tea at the Bivouwac was amazing. Karen Hodgson
