Casting a line on the River Tyne

River Tyne Ladies DayAnother fully booked event our annual River Tyne fund-raising day for Casting For Recovery UK & Ireland was held on Saturday 8th June. Ladies from the North East enjoyed a days salmon fishing in rather challenging conditions – too much sun and not enough water.

There were sessions for beginners from AAPGAI Neil Lobban and GAIA Cliff Johnston. Experienced ladies spent the morning fishing, including casting tuition when required from AAPGAI Master Paul Little and Ritchie. It was lovely  to see Eltringham Beat owner Mr  Schrocksnadel joining us along with one of the worlds leading experts in the double handed rod Ian Gordon.

After lunch junior angler Ella Hall joined us for an introduction to salmon fishing. Kirsty Cruickshank from The Love of Fish joined us for an introduction to salmon fishing in the afternoon also.

The day finished with a BBQ – all meat was supplied by local Stocksfield butcher Whitelaws – highly recommended.

Huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped raise money for Casting For Recovery UK & Ireland.
