Only chicks on the sticks
just to keep you update with other international women’s day events happening around the world. Good luck to the Bribie Island ladies
BRIBIE Island Big Game Fishing Club members have a chance to land a prized catch at the International Women’s Day game fishing tournament.
The tournament, Chicks on Sticks, will be held this weekend and will open for female members of the club only.Fishing club member Annie Orchard said it would be the first year the tournament was run.“One of the guys at the club thought it would be a good idea to have just the ladies out having a go,’’ she said. Ms Orchard said while the rods would fly on the water, the competition was all in good fun. “We are all fairly friendly, it depends on what fish are out there,’’ she said. The competition will be held off Moreton Island, around Flinders Reef and Hutchinson Shoal.Adults will pay a $50 entry fee and juniors $30.A briefing will be held at the Spinnaker Marina on Friday before the action starts on Saturday.Prizes will be given after the competition.Ms Orchard said while the tournament was only open to members, the general public may be invited in the future.
