Weekly Fishing Radio Show
This weeks salmon news for the Saturday morning radio show “Gone Fishing with Sam Harris” saw me out and about on the River Tweed at middle Pavilion.
River Tyne
Last few days the temperature of the river has risen to 40’F. Keilder has reduced the release to 15 cumuics – which has helped reduce the river levels on both the north and main tyne below Hexham. This has opened up more fishable water on the fly resulting in 3 fish this week up to 14lbs on the fly at Bywell. Successful fly gold bodied willie gunn
Beats to fish next week are Styford, Eltringham, Federation and Wylam – find fishing.
River Wear
On my daily walk along the River Wear this week – the river is looking in fine shape. 33 salmon have passed through the fish counter at Durham in January. Last years fish counter total of 22,094 salmon and sea trout is the best since 2003. River Wear is worth fishing – read more about the River Wear.
Latest catches for Scotland
Tweed 44 salmon up to 14lbs
Tay have 49 to 20lbs

Towards end of next week we see the colder weather return with frosts and some sunshine
Fishing Middle Pavilion 27th February
Head Boatman Mick Charlton earlier this week said the forecast for fishing today were going to be good and he was not wrong. The beat is in perfect shape and both myself and Susie had a super day with a strong take from a salmon each – unfortunately the silver sailors did not stick. Sorry Mick – but we had a fab day.
