Sea Fishing in the Tyne Estuary

Member of the Ladies Fishing club and four other local clubs gathered on a beautiful Autumnal day at the end of last month to experience sea fishing with Sea Angler Magazine’s Features Editor, Paul Fenech.

With perfect conditions, twenty one anglers aged from six years to seventy four, baited hooks, under the expert guidance of UKCC Level 2 coaches and experienced sea anglers. It was not long before the junior members of the Swaddle-Scott family were pulling in double codling catchers. Ladies Fishing members followed swiftly with some fine catches from Tanya, Margaret, Ali and Anne. Under expert guidance of Don Coe and Paul Fenech’s father, juniors were catching flounders up to 2lb and codling using lug tipped with squid, lug tipped with mackerel.

The welcome sight of Cliff and Anne  walking along the quayside with hot soup and pies was much appreciated at lunch time, providing everyone with that extra bit of energy needed on a Autumnal day.

A SPECIAL Thank you to Hazel Tipping owner of Hooker Baits who dug the bait for our day. There were over 100 fish caught, using Hazel’s bait, from small codling to specimen-sized flounders in four hours

HUGE Thank you’s to Paul Fenech, Sea Angler Magazine. Tim Swaddle-Scott, Sonik Sports, Don Coe, Leno Fenech, Cliff Johnston for you help.
