Paul little tying flies with ladies fishing November 2009

Hi Ladies

We have our first free event of 2010 to encourage ladies into fishing and fly tying. Saturday 13th March at Woodstone Village, Chester Le Street we are holding a day of fly tying and casting with Paul Little.

We’re going to start the day at 10am tying flies that you would like to fish with, whether its salmon, sea trout or trout. After lunch its onto the field with casting practice, any ladies who were at the Lee Cummings master class on Sunday will want to improve their double hauling techniques.

If you would like to attend our event or just drop in for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake for a chat about future events please contact Anne at annefishing@yahoo.co.uk

The knowledge and skills she has acquired over the years, together with her passion for the sport and for conservation, have empowered her to bring the sport of fishing to more than 5,000 women all over the world through her award-winning seminars.”

Hi Ladies

Tracey and Mags

Tracey and Mags

Yesterday when everyone in LA were putting on their fancy frocks we were at Chatton Trout Fishery enjoying a master class day with Lee Cummings. Two of the ladies were also taking part in the final of Game Angling Winter League competition also held at Chatton.

Whilst we were flexing our rods performing double hauls, tight loops and perfecting the casting arc, Tracy and Mags were poised and in position to catch as many fish using fast/slow sink tips, buzzers, blobs etc. On the forum they say that “the fishing was hard” so the achievement yet again of the ladies just shows the boys that the ladies are starting to become a tough act to beat.

The winner of the competition was Mags who won both heats and Tracey for coming second. Well Done Ladies

Our thanks must go to Lee Cummings who yet again impressed us with his teaching techniques and his knowledge of fishing, equipment and the lunch time knot tying session.

Thank you to Ali and her team for yet again their superb hospitality. It was great to see Ali join in the casting master class. I’m sure she’d agree Lee is in a casting class of his own.

Hi Ladies,

I came across this interesting article this morning, tying in with the International Womens Day/Month of March.

* The first known essay on sports fishing was written by Dame Juliana Berners of Great Britain in 1406. She described how to make a rod and flies, when to fish, and the many kinds of fishing in her essay, “Treatise of Fishing with an Angle”.

* B. Byer of Cape Moreton, Australia, caught a 1,052-pound white shark in 1954. It is the largest white shark ever caught by a woman to date.

* Dianne North caught a world record 802-pound big eye thresher shark in 1981 in New Zealand.

* The International Women’s Fishing Association of Palm Beach, Florida, was founded in 1955 to promote angling competitions for girls and women.

* The International Women’s Fishing Association of Palm Beach, Florida, established a scholarship trust in 1965 to further the field of conservation, and help deserving students attain graduate degrees in marine science at institutions offering such advanced courses.

* The International Women’s Fishing Association established a Hall of Fame in 1978 to recognize outstanding women for their individual contributions to conservation and sportfishing.

I’m looking forward to our first event on Sunday at Chatton Trout Fishery with Lee Cummings. Lee is bringing along a young lady that you may have read about called Millie Cummings, his little girl who is totally mad about fishing. I look forward to seeing them both.
