2018 Salmon Fishing Festival FULL

17626149_1114683758642382_1836720017896146390_nLadies if you go salmon fishing or would like to try salmon fishing then please put Friday 30th and Saturday 31st March 2018 into your diaries. The much anticipated dates from the River Spey Anglers Association have just been confirmed.

The two day event fishing the river Spey will again welcome ladies from across the UK and this year there are 30 places available.

The evening of the first day there will be a traditional Scottish gala dinner and dance.

All money raised from this two day event will be used by the RSAA to introduce young anglers into fishing.

Women also had the chance to tie their first fly and what better way than on a brooch. It was trains and history last night, 1825 to be precise. Celebrating the anniversary of the world's first public railway to use steam, Stockton & Darlington Railway. They used the Locomotion No1 built by pioneering railway engineer George Stephenson, the “Father of Railways” . . Guests and local dignitaries gathered for the 194th anniversary organised by the friends of the Stockton & Darlington Railway. . .One special highlight being the announcement that a mysterious parcel put together in 1925 will be opened at the anniversary celebrations in 2025. . Officially opened on 27 September 1825. The movement of coal to ships rapidly became a lucrative business, and the line was soon extended to a new port and town at Middlesbrough.
