Weekend of Fishing and Fly Dressing

Another weekend of fishing and fly tying at Chatton Trout Fishery – with low temperatures and strong winds the ladies and young rods braved the minus chill factor in search of fin perfect trout.

Fish were deep so the ladies changed to sinking & intermediate lines to find the right depth, with many fishing a 2 fly cast, whilst constantly moving around the fishery casting a line at different hot spots to keep warm. Finding shelter from the circling west wind proved at times rather challenging for anglers and coaches.

Finally after hard work and perseverance it was great to see fish coming to the net for experienced rod Leslie and junior angler Ella. During a hot lunch, tales of the one that got away from a missed strike or weak hook-up were exchanged with enthusiasm.

Most ladies in the afternoon stayed in the warm and cosy Chatton lodge tying salmon flies, and also brushed up on fly tying techniques with Paul Little. Some braved another session on the lake in search of the one that got away!

Even thought the weather was against us, we were joined by a new lady who thoroughly enjoyed her day fishing and coaching from Dawn.

Next Chatton Ladies Day April 12th. If you would like to attend please email club secretary Jan Robinson ladiesfishingclub@gmail.com or telephone Alison on 07917640979
