Cumbria Fishing Festival for all the family

Hi ladies

Take a look at the Cumbria Fishing Festival from the 15th to 23rd May. I know some of you ladies have been savvy and are already booked on events. Take stock of these household names that ladies fishing have held events with, its another chance to have a days tuition and instruction during the festival with Paul Procter, Tony Riley, Lee Cummings, Clive Mitchell-Hill, Glynn Freeman and many more. If you would like to book one of their days visit the fishing festival site at, or click the link on the side of our blog

http://www.lakedistrictfishing.net/Events-Introduction/festival-events.html

Remember Lee is holding our own special ladies fishing mullet day on the 22nd May, this is not on the festival list. You will get a chance to meet the above gentleman at the Tweed Show ladies fishing trip on the 1st May

To book a place on both events please contact Anne

Yesterday we had another of our social outings, this time with posh frocks and hats to the ladies day at Kelso Races. The weather was fabulous and the race course Voted ‘Britain’s Friendliest Racecourse’ in a Sunday Times survey made all the ladies feel very welcome.

The ladies who attended said “what a nice change some beautiful weather, lets hope it stays like this for the fishing”. We even had some ladies with winning horses, and one of our ladies had her horse racing too.

The next ladies outing is to the Tweed Show on the 1st May we have organised casting demonstrations on the double handed rod from Brett O’Connor and the Chairman of AAPGAI Illtyd Griffiths is going to give a demonstration on the single handed rod and a talk on how he landed a 24lb sea trout in Argentina on a single handed rod. Paul Little one of our coaches is a guest tier at the show and is hoping you will join him to tie a fly or two.

If you would like to come to the Tweed Show please contact Anne or Trish,  all our new ladies will be made very welcome. There is all a car sharing from Newcastle, Durham and Hexham for any ladies wishing to come along

We are proud to announce the internationally acclaimed fish hook brand Partridge will be providing the hooks for the flies designed by Paul little, Charles Jardine and Paul Procter for ladies fishing’s fund raising for Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland.

The flies are being tied at locations across the North East on the 8th and 9th May with help, tuition and advice from Paul Little and Cliff Johnston.

Paul Little commented “Partridge hooks was my first choice of hook when I designed the salmon fly, they produce the superior salmon hook”

Partridge has 130 years of heritage and can be credited with the invention of modern fly hook manufacture. It is the only British sport hook manufacturer that has been able to survive and create a name for itself in the twentieth century, with an ever increasing number of fans who, throughout several generations, have been enchanted by the magic of Partridge’s Finest Handmade Fishing Hooks

Mark Hamnett Managing Director says “only too delighted to help ladies fishing raise money for such a worthy charity Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland”

Thank you Mark

Josie and Sharon, Corbridge Orvis in Orvis ladies waders

Josie and Sharon, Corbridge Orvis in Orvis ladies waders

Hi Ladies

Sarah and myself have been to the Orvis shop in Corbridge today. We’re organising a very special day on Saturday 21st August with Josie and Sharon at Orvis, Corbridge to raise money for Casting For Recovery. You are all invited so please make a note for your diary.

Whilst in the shop, we found out that not only do they stock an exceptional range of Orvis ladies casual clothing, including Barbour. They have a great range of ladies fishing clothing, including LADIES WADERS. They also have a hire service, you can hire ladies and gentlemans waders for the day, including rods, reels etc.

We will be promoting this service on all our ladies fishing days. Well done Orvis, yet again leading the way encouraging more ladies into fishing by making ladies fishing clothing accessible to everyone.

If you would like to buy or hire a pair of waders please contact Josie or Sharon on 01434 634275
