South Florida has been holding its breath to see if the oil spill will be carried onto their shores via the loop current. “Ladies, Lets Go Fishing!” a fishing seminar offered specifically for women, is taking the opportunity to teach women the importance of ocean conservation.
Whoopa contacted Trish and myself because they had seen the ladies fishing site and they wanted to know a little bit more about what the ladies get up to….
Anyone who delves deeper into my life will realise that I’m passionate about opera and one aim in my life is to visit all the major opera houses in world. I adore the Paris Opera House and dream of seeing La Traviata performed.
“It’s so romantic. If you can break away from the crowd . . . if you get away from the people and you’re alone on the river, it’s so cleansing,” says Vokey, now 27 and the owner-operator of Fly Gal Ventures, a fishing school that takes her across Canada and around the world teaching fly fishing to women.
Vokey compares her hours on the river to yoga.
Hi ladies
I’m currently chatting to ladies across the pond who fish and I thought you might be interested in reading about them. Judith whom i mentioned last week on the Ladies Steelhead Casting Chicks has sent over some photos and a little bit about herself
Judith O’Keefe was born in 1956 in Paris, France and raised in northern California. At the age of ten, she was fishing with her father off piers along the northern California coast. But it wasn’t until 1993 when she met her husband, Brian O’Keefe, that her interest in the sport was fully realized. Brian and Judith have spent countless hours driving the back roads looking for the next interesting spot to fish.
Anne Woodcock organises fishing days for women. She is the Marketing Director at FishPal and has a weekly show on CVFM Radio
