From sea fishing to fly fishing, Alison
I took up fly fishing after attending a day organised by a group called Ladies Fishing. £16 got me a day fishing at Chatton, fly dressing with Paul Little and casting tuition with Cliff Johnston who has over 60 years fishing experience. The group is keen to support charities and in particular Casting for Recovery, a Breast cancer support group using fly fishing to heal sufferers both mentally and physically.
The Ladies Fishing group supported this charity, this weekend by attending the Glasgow Angling Centre Open Weekend to provided the opportunity for people to tie a brooch with funds raised for this worthy charity. As my Mum died from breast cancer when I was twelve this is a charity close to my heart so I decided a trip up the M74 was called for. Not to mention the chance to spend some dosh and see Davie McPhail at the same time. As it turned out he couldnt make it due to family bereavement. Still I got some advice from Paul Proctor and the chance to support Anne from Ladies Fishing. Little did I know that I would end up sitting on the platform tying in front of everyone.
