Ladies Fishing are a group of ladies based in the North East of England who meet regularly and go fishing together. We established the group for a number of reasons, firstly to fill the demand from ladies for river fishing events for salmon and trout. Secondly to offer qualified, experienced instructors, teaching beginners to advanced casting tuition for ladies on a group and individual basis at a sensible price. Thirdly to encourage a network of female fishing buddies,
communicating with each other across the North East and Scottish Border’s. Fourthly to raise money through fishing initiates and events for good causes. Finally organise free events to encourage females into fishingThe result is Ladies Fishing, we don’t charge a membership fee to join us, and we do enjoy many
benefits, eg discounts from fishing shops, all our events are at cost, trips to shows, free events and free tuition. We now have 2 full time coaches Cliff Johnston, who has over 60 years fishing experience, a GAIA qualified coach and entomologist, he’s just retired from teaching at Durham University specialising in Primary Education and in particular the sciences. Paul
Little a world recognised classic salmon tying specialist, AAPGAI senior assessor and master in Fly Tying, Double and Single handed rods. Two of the ladies are level one assistant coaches, in June we have 2 more ladies booked onto the level one course and another lady on the level two coaching qualification
We normally have between 6 to 12 women per event, we even hold events with just 2 ladies, keeping the numbers down ensures that everyone gets the chance to have individual one to one tuition (if required). Our events are about enjoyment, first class tuition, good food, catching fish, sharing fishing tips/news, recipes and developing
friendships with other like-minded fishing females.
None of our ladies work or are linked to fishing manufacturers so we pride ourselves on offering free impartial advice on equipment and clothing. We like to keep our ladies up to date about manufacturers who
produce ladies fishing clothing including ladies waders, currently in the UK there is only Simms, Reddington and Orvis. We hope to encourage more ladies into fishing. We provide a complimentary equipment hire service for ladies interested in joining our river, still water, sea or fly tying events. Safety is important, on all our river events ladies are offered life
vests , juniors on still water days are provided with life vests. If you would like to join us please say “Hello”
Most importantly our aim is to go fishing and enjoy ourselves. Tight Lines Anne Woodcock
